The D-BG8 battery grip was developed exclusively for the PENTAX K-3 Mark III, is also dust and weatherproof and, as a portrait format shutter release, has the same user interface as the camera body. Power is supplied by the large-capacity D-LI90P lithium-ion battery. Together with the battery of the same type in the camera, this provides sufficient power for up to 1,800 images. The battery in the Body and also in the battery grip can be charged via the camera's USB port.
