Sensor cleaning

Say goodbye to annoying dirt on the sensor!

Camera sensors attract dust and dirt. This is noticeable in the image quality.

Digital cameras, with interchangeable lenses, have the problem that the statically charged camera image sensor attracts dust and dirt particles.

Therefore, regular cleaning (every 1-3 months) of the image sensor is essential.
Do not clean with commercial cleaning agents, as they leave traces on the sensor that are even more difficult to remove. Even the popular fleece handkerchief does not help here.

Use our service and bring us your camera with a fully charged battery. Processing usually takes 2-3 days.

Questions about sensor cleaning

Yes, you can clean the sensor yourself. However, we do not recommend it, because the sensor of the camera or other internal parts may be affected.
The sensor should be examined at least once a year to see if cleaning makes sense. This always depends on how often you change lenses. With system cameras, we recommend an increased check, since the sensor is usually exposed when lenses are changed.
In the previous text section we showed examples of sensor contamination. Aperture the camera down to f/8 or higher and shoot in very bright light. For example, against the sun, against a lamp, or on a lit piece of paper. If you then see gray or black dots on the camera's display when you enlarge the image, your camera is dirty.
Sensor cleaning usually takes 2-3 days, if there is a high volume, there may be delays.
A camera sensor can be contaminated with a wide variety of materials, some of which we would like to list for you:
  • Dust
  • Hair
  • Sand
  • Streaks from previous cleanings
In order for us to perform the cleaning, the battery should be charged if possible, if you send / bring us the camera without a lens, please make sure to attach / include the cap for the lens mount, otherwise there is a risk that your camera will get dirty again, or we will charge a cap.
From our many years of experience we can tell you that this cleaning is usually not sufficient and external cleaning is necessary. How to find out that your camera is dirty, we have already explained before

Tips against dust on the sensor

  1. Check the functions of your system camera to see if it has a mechanical compartment that closes as soon as you change the lens.
  2. Change lens in a shorter time. If you change the lens with a short time interval, the dirt also has less chance to enter the camera.
  3. Clean your lenses. The back of the lens will also collect dust in the photo backpack should you place them in the backpack without protective caps. This can then fall onto the sensor during use.
  4. Do not change the lens in strong wind, because wind is the ideal carrier for smaller dirt particles. Find a wind-shaded place where you want to change the lens.
